TriStar Health announces plan to bring full-service hospital to Clarksville

TriStar Health has recently made significant strides toward enhancing healthcare accessibility in Clarksville, Tennessee, by announcing its plans to apply for a Certificate of Need with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission. This initiative aims to build a full-service hospital in the rapidly growing city of Clarksville, which is crucial given the pressing healthcare needs of its expanding population.

With an estimated investment of $286 million, the proposed hospital will encompass a spacious 213,000-square-foot facility. Designed to serve the community effectively, it will feature 68 beds with an option to expand to 224 in the future. Among its many amenities, the hospital will include a 12-bed emergency room, a 42-bed medical/surgical unit, and an 8-bed intensive care unit. Additionally, for families preparing to welcome new members, the facility will boast a 10-bed labor and delivery unit, as well as an 8-bed neonatal intensive care unit (Level 2).

One of the key aspects of this project is its commitment to comprehensive healthcare services. The new hospital will not only include four operating rooms and two cardiac catheterization labs but also offer advanced imaging services, such as MRI, and inpatient dialysis. This multi-faceted approach to healthcare will greatly improve the quality of services available to residents and surrounding communities.

Mitch Edgeworth, the president of HCA Healthcare TriStar Division, emphasized the importance of healthcare facilities that align with community needs. “Clarksville is growing at a tremendous rate, and we are excited to expand healthcare services with a community hospital designed to meet the needs of the residents who call Clarksville home,” he stated. This sentiment resonates deeply given that Clarksville is now the fifth-largest city in Tennessee and is projected to reach a population of 200,000 by 2028.

Currently, Clarksville houses just one acute care community hospital alongside a military hospital located in nearby Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Given the city’s rapid growth, the addition of a full-service hospital is not just beneficial, but necessary. The current healthcare landscape has become increasingly strained, making the establishment of a new facility even more pressing.

The anticipated hospital also holds the promise of job creation for the local economy. TriStar has indicated that its establishment will generate over 200 healthcare job opportunities, with potential for further expansion as the community continues to develop. The creation of jobs in the healthcare sector is vital not only for employment but also for enhancing the overall quality of care available to residents.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has expressed his support for this initiative, highlighting its potential to expand healthcare options for both local citizens and military families residing in Fort Campbell. “I am pleased to hear that TriStar Health is interested in bringing a multimillion-dollar healthcare facility to our community,” he said, showcasing the collective enthusiasm surrounding this project.

Anticipating the future, the hospital is planned to be located on Tiny Town Road, a site that is poised to be accessible for many residents. The strategic location reflects TriStar’s commitment to ensuring that healthcare is within reach for all community members.

In summary, TriStar Health’s proposal to construct a full-service hospital in Clarksville represents a pivotal step toward enhancing healthcare services in the area. The investment of $286 million not only aims to provide essential medical services but also reflects a commitment to community health and well-being. As Clarksville continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, the addition of this hospital will undoubtedly play a vital role in meeting the healthcare needs of its burgeoning population. The multi-faceted offering of services, relevant job creation, and the involvement of local leaders all underscore the community’s support and anticipation for this important development in healthcare infrastructure.

As residents watch this plan unfold, it becomes evident that TriStar Health is not only invested in building physical structures but is also dedicated to nurturing the community’s health, ensuring that every family and individual receives the quality care they deserve.
