Summer Game Fest 2025 schedule, announcements, new games and everything else to expect

Summer Game Fest 2025 is set to be a thrilling showcase of the latest in gaming, running from June 4 to June 9. As excitement builds for the event, it appears that this year could be especially notable for fans. With the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 heralding a new era in gaming, the festival presents a perfect platform for major game announcements and updates.

This year’s lineup includes prominent showcases like Sony’s State of Play, Summer Game Fest Live, and the Xbox Games Showcase, creating a comprehensive picture of what the gaming world has in store. Additional showcases such as the Day of the Devs and the newly introduced Green Games Showcase will round out the event, showcasing everything from indie titles to environmentally conscious games.

Interestingly, not all fan-favorite events will be present. Ubisoft’s absence, attributed to delayed game launches, raises questions about what they have in store for the future. However, rumors circulate about a Splinter Cell-related project, generating a buzz amidst the uncertainties.

CD Projekt Red will also make an appearance, offering a glimpse into the world of The Witcher 4 through a stunning Unreal Engine tech demo. The demo, running at 60 fps on a base PS5, showcases the studio’s commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences.

As Summer Game Fest replaces the now-defunct E3 as a key platform for game announcements, anticipation for its schedule is heating up. On June 4, the Sony State of Play will kick things off at 5 PM ET, promising over 40 minutes of “must-play games” from both first-party and third-party developers.

June 6 will see the Summer Game Fest Live at 5 PM ET, promoting itself as a major event featuring “spectacular new announcements.” Hosted by Geoff Keighley, previous editions have been characterized by surprise reveals, making this one highly anticipated. The event is also set to showcase exclusive content from popular franchises like Fortnite, Mafia, and much more.

Immediately following SGF Live, at 7 PM ET, the Day of the Devs will spotlight indie games. Expect to see 20 fresh titles, including Possessor(s) by Heart Machine and Neverway, a unique RPG. This showcase has built a reputation for highlighting innovative indie projects, and fans can look forward to wonderful surprises here.

Later on June 6, Devolver Direct will take center stage at 8 PM ET. This year’s focus will be on a mystery title, Ball x Pit: The Kenny Sun Story, raising curiosity among its fanbase. Following Devolver’s successful past showcases, this event will surely not disappoint.

The IO Interactive Showcase at 9 PM ET will highlight the long-awaited 007 First Light, a James Bond game fans have been waiting for. This will mark the studio’s first showcase, and expectations are high for a world premiere during SGF Live.

As the festival continues on June 7, multiple showcases highlighting diverse voices in gaming will feature the Wholesome Direct and Women-led Games Showcase. The Wholesome Direct promises around 60 cozy games, while the Women-led showcase will spotlight 39 titles from women-led studios, emphasizing diversity in game development.

At 2 PM ET on the same day, the Latin American Games Showcase will present over 50 games from Latin American developers, and the Southeast Asian Games Showcase will further emphasize broader cultural representation in gaming.

The Xbox Games Showcase on June 8 at 1 PM ET will be a significant spectacle, highlighting major titles from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard. Anticipated reveals include Fable, Perfect Dark, and perhaps even updates on The Elder Scrolls 6. Given the breadth of Xbox’s offerings, this presentation is bound to captivate a massive audience.

Later that evening, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach will also have its live premiere event at 10 PM ET. Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley will take viewers on an exclusive preview of this highly-anticipated title, offering both insights and excitement about its development.

Beyond the main showcases, additional events like the Frosty Games Fest and PC Gaming Show will keep gamers engaged with emerging titles from various publishers and indie developers. The inclusion of environmental causes in the Green Games Showcase illustrates the industry’s growing commitment to sustainability, aiming to raise awareness and inspire action toward climate initiatives.

Each showcase will be streamed across multiple platforms, making them widely accessible to a global audience keen to stay updated on the latest game announcements and developments. Whether improvements on fan-favorite franchises, innovative indie projects, or fresh reveals from major studios, Summer Game Fest is shaping up to be a must-watch for gaming enthusiasts.

As the festival approaches, excitement grows along with the anticipation of what will be unveiled. From major trailers to unexpected announcements, Summer Game Fest 2025 promises to deliver a unique experience for gamers everywhere, marking an essential date in the gaming calendar.
