Snap & Grab Is A Heisting Hitman Game Published By Annapurna, & It Stole My Heart At Summer Game Fest

Snap & Grab is a captivating new puzzle game that smoothly blends the stealth mechanics fans expect from the Hitman series with an engaging heisting twist. Developed by No Goblin, known for their previous title Roundabout, and published by Annapurna Interactive, this game caught my attention during a recent hands-on demo at the Summer Game Fest. The vibrant aesthetics, playful tone, and the emphasis on creativity in planning heists left a lasting impression on me.

Set in a neon-drenched 1987, Snap & Grab introduces players to Nifty Nevada, a fashion and lifestyle photographer who finds herself at the center of a thrilling art heist. Initially questioned by a detective about a recent theft, Nifty uses her profession as a cover to infiltrate various locations, setting the stage for each heist. Through her keen eye for detail, she photographs critical elements of the crime, which her team then executes, thus weaving an intriguing narrative filled with excitement and art.

The heist mechanics in Snap & Grab are refreshingly unique. During my demo, I engaged in two separate thefts at a lavish party in the New York City loft of the pretentious artist Erik Pop, where bizarre artifacts like a bejeweled skull sculpture and a giant key encased in ice awaited. Each heist consists of three essential phases: snap, plan, and grab. The “snap” segment involves surveying the area, identifying potential obstacles, and capturing crucial visual data. Armed with these photographs, players transition into the planning phase, laying out their heist step-by-step like a flow chart. The game encourages players to explore various strategies without fear of penalties for failure, making it possible to test multiple plans for each scenario.

This design philosophy—an environment where trial and error are welcomed—gives players the freedom to experiment without the harsh consequences often associated with stealth games like Hitman. I found that even if a plan flopped, revisiting and reexamining the approach yields new insights. Perhaps a guard was overlooked, or a different distraction could have paved the way for success. The freedom to approach each heist creatively reminded me of Hitman, but with a whimsical spirit that permeates the experience.

In one of the heists, I needed to divert the partygoers from the dance floor. I chose to disrupt the music by removing the record, but I could have opted for myriad other methods, like playing a different record that would attract the crowd’s attention. For extracting the key from the ice sculpture, I melted the ice using hot lights, although other options ranged from cutting the sculpture out to tossing it over the balcony. The mix of strategies showcases the game’s depth and the myriad of ways players can tackle each crime.

Beyond grand larceny, Snap & Grab offers additional challenges in each setting through unique photography missions. In my demo, I had to gather food scattered across Erik Pop’s mansion and compose an eclectic arrangement—a still life of fruit and hotdogs. Completing these tasks rewards players with stars that unlock special perks, making every mission feel rewarding and adding layers to Nifty’s criminal portfolio.

The game’s vibrant world extends beyond a single location. Each heist will take players to diverse environments, from an aquarium-teeming art museum to a bullet train fashion show. The anticipated roster of team members, ranging from master disguisers to a literal cat burglar, hints at an evolving game experience filled with opportunities for players to expand their criminal crew. This diversity adds significant replayability, allowing players to adapt their strategies based on the team makeup and mission parameters.

In sum, Snap & Grab beautifully weaves together creativity, strategy, and vibrant art in a way that truly resonates. The light-hearted tone, combined with the intricacies of planning heists, makes it stand out in the puzzle game genre. It captures the essence of each player’s unique playstyle while maintaining a sense of silliness and fun woven throughout its narrative.

As a blend of adventure and artistic heisting, Snap & Grab manages to create an atmosphere that is as captivating as it is playful. While I only scratched the surface of what the game offers during my brief demo, the potential for varied heist executions and the joy of experimentation has already stolen my heart. With a full release planned for 2026, anticipation is brewing for the full experience of this quirky and imaginative puzzle game. If you’re searching for a fresh gaming experience that encourages creativity while delivering laughs, Snap & Grab should be on your radar.
