This win not only showcased his talent but also earned him an invitation to the prestigious Teen Masters Global event in Las Vegas, Nevada, scheduled for February. Attending this competition, which features the top 64 U19 boys worldwide, signifies a noteworthy achievement. Out of many athletes, only 16 from North America received this esteemed invitation.

Formosa started to explore competitive bowling more seriously last year by participating in the Youth Bowling Tour (YBT) located in southern Ontario. His success prompted him to tackle the challenges offered by the Great Lakes Junior Gold Tour (GLJGT), which spans several states, including Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. This decision paid off as he earned a “golden ticket” to the Junior Gold Championships—the largest youth bowling tournament globally.
The last Junior Gold Championships took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where Formosa competed among only 12 Canadians, standing out as the only U18 bowler from his country. The scale of the event was staggering, with over 1,300 entrants in the U18 boys division from across North America. Despite facing tough competition, Formosa approached the event with a growth mindset. Although the results did not meet his expectations, the experience provided him with valuable insights and knowledge that will benefit him in future competitions.

As Formosa prepares for his forthcoming trip to Las Vegas for the Teen Masters Global, he remains actively engaged in the competitive circuit. He is once again participating in the GLJGT this season and will also compete in YBT events across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In January, he plans to take another significant step in his bowling career by entering the Team Canada Trials for the first time. His ambition to make Team Canada’s Youth Bowling Team reflects his dedication to growing as an athlete.
