Thanks to the invaluable support from the Bulloch County community and the incredible talent within the Southeast Bulloch (SEB) flag football program, the team is set to make history. This summer, they will travel to Canton, Ohio, to compete in the Unrivaled Sports’ inaugural High School Girls Flag Football Nationals, becoming one of the first teams to participate in a national championship dedicated exclusively to high school girls flag football.
The Southeast Bulloch High School flag football program has undeniably made its mark in the sports world, clinching its fourth consecutive state championship last season. With an impressive overall record of 83 wins and just one loss over the past four years, SEB continues to stand out as one of the premier flag football programs in the nation. Their trip to Canton, which will take place on June 14-15, signifies not only competitive ambition but also the rapid growth and recognition of girls in sports.
The Unrivaled Sports’ High School Girls Flag Football Nationals aims to celebrate this growth by featuring teams from across the country, competing in a range of divisions, including both 5-on-5 and 7-on-7 matchups. This prestigious tournament is set to attract attention from college scouts, providing young female athletes the chance to showcase their skills on a national stage. Additionally, the top two teams from each division will secure bids to the 2026 Youth World Championships, putting them on an international platform.
The Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets flag football program, which was founded just four years ago, was built on the foundation of talent, hard work, and the desire to create a program of excellence. As they prepare to represent Bulloch County in Canton, it’s evident that they have surpassed expectations, establishing themselves as a force within the sport. Head coach Marci Cochran has been pivotal in this journey, acknowledging the immense support from the community that has made this all possible.
Cochran expressed heartfelt gratitude for the community’s contributions, sharing her experience that exceeded her initial fundraising goals. “I asked for a little bit of money, and we got a lot of money. The community has really come together to support us,” she said. “They show up for our games, reinforcing the recognition that these girls deserve as flag football players.”
The Lady Yellow Jackets have enjoyed tremendous backing from local supporters, including the Bulloch County Commission, which honored the team with a proclamation for their achievements. This outpouring of community encouragement not only fuels the athletes’ ambitions but also underscores the collective belief in the significance of women’s sports.
They successfully raised over $12,000 to cover the expenses for their trip to Nationals, with additional support from the Atlanta Falcons, which further amplifies the commitment to growing the sport. As flag football garners more visibility, it reinforces the significance of female athleticism and the opportunities available for young women in competitive sports.
With preparations underway for the national tournament, the Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets are focused on showcasing their winning mentality. The commitment and teamwork displayed by these young athletes reflect not just a desire to win but a dedication to uplifting and promoting girls’ sports on a broader scale. As they gear up for the Nationals and the upcoming 2025-26 season, the anticipation is palpable, both within the team and their community of supporters.
From their remarkable journey filled with challenges and triumphs to an exciting new chapter at the Nationals, the SEB Lady Yellow Jackets encapsulate the spirit of resilience and determination. As they embark on this unprecedented opportunity, one thing is clear: the community’s unwavering support will continue to bolster their efforts, propelling them forward onto the greater stage.
As fans and supporters rally behind the team, there’s a hopeful sense of excitement in the air. The Grice Connect team wishes the Lady Jackets a safe and victorious journey to Nationals. With their sights set on new milestones, the resilience and strength exemplified by this program are sure to inspire future generations of female athletes. Go Jackets!
